There are several different types of clay that are commonly used in cosplaying. Those are plasticine clays, PaperClay, Model Magic and Sculpey. Each of them has their own uses. Clay is commonly used for creating props or jewelry, or molds to make a casting off of.

Types of Clay

Plasticine Clay

This type of clay will not dry out, and is used frequently for making large models/scupltures that will be used to make a fiberglass cast out of.

PaperClay

Very light weight clay that can be purchased at any hobby/craft store. PaperClay is a name brand clay that will air dry. When working with PaperClay, sometimes it will crack as it is drying. Add additional PaperClay to fill in the gaps and sand it down. PaperClay sands to a very smooth finish.
