Posting a tutorial

From CosplayWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

So you want to post a tutorial here on CosplayWiki? Great! There are a few things first before you post the tutorial you need to do.

Contents

Copyright

Did you write the tutorial? If you did then there isn't a problem and you can skip this section. If you didn't write the tutorial then you are going to need to contact the author of the tutorial and ask for permission to post the tutorial on CosplayWiki. When you ask for permission to post the tutorial on the wiki, make sure to send the link to our copyrights page as well. You HAVE to make sure you send them this link so they know what or how their work could be used in the future from the posting on this site. Also make sure to let them know that they will be given credit for the content they have developed.

Making a new page

Once you have the copyright cleared and obtained permission to use the tutorial, you can go ahead and post it. If the page dosen't exist, and it probably dosent since you are just posting the tutorial you will need to make a new page. When you make the new page, just call the page what the item the tutorial is, like InuYasha's necklace or Shinigani sandals. You don't need to type in How to and infact that is discouraged - then everything would be in the H group on the tutorial category page.

Format of the page

So you have your new page and are ready to edit! If you haven't taken a look at the help page for learning the basics of editing the wiki, now would be a good time to check that out. The first thing to do is note the format of the tutorials here on CosplayWiki. Here is a section you can copy and paste into your new page

Content

One thing about the content is that there are quite a few materials and tools already listed here on the wiki. You can click on either of these words to see what is already on the page. Feel free to add anything to those tools or materials that already exist or add your own by using the WikiTag.

After you have added all your content to the wiki, you should add it to the appropriate category. This would be the particular video game or anime it came from you can copy these tags to add it to either category [[Category:Anime]] or [[Category:Video Games]].

Does your Anime/ Video game exist in the wiki?

Once you have created a tutorial you might want to check to see if the anime or video game or whatever your tutorial is from already exists. If it does you should add your tutorial to that anime category. If the page for that particular anime dosen't exist then make the page using the tag [[Category:anime name here]]. After the page is created it would be nice to know a bit about the anime, so it is suggested that you use the first paragraph describing the anime from Wikipedia at the top of the page. An example of this would be such as Category:Yu-Gi-Oh! or Category:InuYasha.

The easy way to remember this is all tutorials go in the category for their anime and the tutorials category.

Each individual anime goes in the Category:Anime
